Jim Tilmon wrote of himself:
“By many accounts, I have led a very fortunate life. I would agree. Yet, I would not necessarily equate good fortune with ease of accomplishment. I am an African-American man born halfway between the Great Depression and World War II who from the age of five wanted to become a commercial airline pilot. It was an easy dream to have but not an easy task.
I faced many challenges and obstacles along the way to reaching my goal and achieving my dream. I was also able to take advantage of other career opportunities that presented themselves on the way to and after securing my seat in an airline cockpit.
My life has been, and continues to be, a rather complete learning experience and I would like to share some of what I have learned. Having been on this earth over 85 years there is a lot of material from which to choose. Hopefully you will find something I say here that is useful and interesting.
I’m Just Sayin’…”
